Kia kotou,

Ko Hugh Gully taku ingoa

Ko te Tumuaki o Te Kura Tuwaenga o Whakatu

It has and continues to be a great honour to be the Principal of Nelson Intermediate since 2007.  Prior to that I was Principal at Mapua School for 7 years, Deputy Principal of Victory Primary and various other positions at Waimea Intermediate, Birchwood School and Guardian Angels School in East London.

I grew up in Kawai Street just up the road from Nelson Intermediate and I attended Hampden Street, Intermediate and then Nelson College.  My mum was Teachers Aide while I was a pupil here.

Whanau is huge in my life with my mum and stepdad, brothers, sister and inlaws all living in Nelson.  I have been happily married to Cate (who is Deputy Principal at Broadgreen Intermediate) for 29 years and I have 2 wonderful children Jess who is at Canterbury University studying Law and Commerce and Jack who works in Christchurch as a Personal Trainer.

I am an avid Cricket fan and played about 40 games for Nelson, and in the Middlesex County League in London.  In recent years I have been Manager of the  Athletic Old Boys Cricket Team and a committee member.  Mountain Biking is another passion having completed 9 Rainbow Rages since 2000 as well as frequently heading to the hills around Nelson.

Cate and I enjoy frequent holidays to Pakawau in Golden Bay, Lake Rotoiti (where my brother lives) and Te Towaka in the Marlborough Sounds. Furthermore I am an active member of the Rotary Club of Whakatu
